Is it possible for a hen to develop spraddle leg from being broody for so long? I am using straw bedding so she does have traction. I noticed that I could see her legs sticking out to the side while she was sitting on the chicks so I took her out and set her on the floor. She had a hard time standing on her own. I am very worried about her :(. Should I put her chicks under the other hen and put her back outside with the other chickens? She is really only eating if I take the food over to her and has lost weight. She's not getting up and moving around. I think she's taking her mother hen duties to seriously and not taking care of herself. Help!

oh wow! maybe electrolites for mom! she may be taking her duties strong! how old is she again?

Wow I had a very busy day.... This afternoon I went to tractor supply and got lots of bedding and food for my birds and then the hardware store for plants, and when we got home it was raining but I went straight outside and cleaned the chicken coop, fed and watered the birds, and planted the garden. When I got back inside I was soaking wet and covered in hay and mud xD and then I vaccumed the floor, cleaned and set the table, and finally ate dinner. Phew! But at least the birds are happy now xD

I just wanted to show you all this amazing picture. To me it is anyways. You may have already had personal expierenced candiling your eggs. But this was amazing I ran around around the house with this egg looking for my hubby to take a photo. Look at this.

She's only one! :( I got her as a 5 day old chick one year ago yesterday. I feel so bad for her. Do you think I should take her back out to the coop so she hopefully will move around more? I will give her electrolytes too.

I think that's one of the coolest candling pics I've ever seen! What day are they on?

What do u all think I should do about the incubators? Should I use the still air hovabator 1602 or my brand new circulated air temp controlled genesis for locking down the more expensive eggs? The one I don't use for those ones I really want to hatch will be used to keep incubating the rest of my eggs that aren't due for another 2weeks. I was just thinking the genesis would be the better of the two for hatching but then I've heard the fans can dry out duck eggs during hatching, is there any truth to that?
