My duck eggs are on day 14, I removed the obviously undeveloped ones and the questionable little stink bomb too. I'm left with 4, I had originally thought 3 but miscounted. When my eggs arrived I had 2 that were damaged but hopefully hatchable, one had a crack that went halfway around. I think one of my kids messed with it because it is really damaged now. It still looks like its developing & there is no ooze so I'm assuming the membrane is still intact. Here are some pictures of my little fighter

There are lots of veins in it and I see movement inside. Plus good air cells on all 4 eggs.

have you tried sealing it with birthday candle wax or something else?

Chicksooner you'd figure with 4 kids I'd have some bday candles but i don't. I just found it like this tonight so I will buy some in the morning. The rest of my candles are scented so I was afraid it might somehow hurt the baby more than help it.

Still have sick chicks. One is pretty weak but started eating this morning when I fed it. Lots of fluffed feathers. Hens with sniffling noses. I saw something on the shelf yesterday for animals including poultry. Its powder and starts with a T. Its for colds and flu. When my new drug comes in that I just ordered, Im going to try the two day treatment and then try everything else. Ive put everything out where they have plenty of room and can be in the sun as much as they want. Nothing is dying but one is getting weaker. Its been sick for almost two weeks so I haven't culled it yet. I have expected it to die any day but some days it seems better. I sure will be glad when this is over. Some days I think, I will just cull every chick that is sick(fluffed feathers). Its just real weird. Some of the ones with fluffed feathers that I think are sick will fly all the way across the yard chasing a bug or coming to the feed. I think Ive about got it under control. Im hearing a lot of people in Arkansas are having troubles with chickens. One of the counties in Arkansas had a quarantine because of an Avian Flu. Coccidiosis and flu like symptoms seems to be everywhere.
I really feel for you. Went through the cocci 3 weeks post Easter, a ton of work keeping those chickies hydrated/medicated/fed and cleaned. Moved them to an outside(back porch) bathroom to get them off the ground, real bad cocci egg load due to wet/humid weather, etc., 4 weeks of ICU/type recovery and health rehab. Doing well now...catching up on their weight...Hang in there, and hope it settles down for you soon...Chirp

It's a daily battle. I think I'm winning now. I would have to look back to see when this started. The last two I've lost though was one today that got hung in the fence and cooked in the sun and one that got under a feed pan and cooked. They were half grown healthy chicks.
