Did I vaccinate 47 chickens WRONG? Should I redo quickly or wait?

Glad your birds are going fine, the blue mark was probably just a little bruising. nothing to worry about. It hekps if you can get a second hand to help . but im sure the instructions you got told exactly which guage to use. Tractor supply co often keeps vaccine supplies but I have to oder mine as they have for horse and cow and no chicken stuff, maybe I can talk them into it. If your showing its so important cause its like kids in school , they are bound to run across something. even if your not it saves a lot of heartbreak.

I vaccinated for fowl pox this spring because we have such a bad mosquito problem. The "blue dye" in the mixed vaccine helps you to see if you got it right. If the blue spreads in the skin where you poked them they should of gotten a good dose. I don't know if re-vaccinating would really hurt them... It's not like you are giving them a double dose injection of medicine. It's like pricking the skin to introduce the weaken form of pox. I even poked a few of mine twice while fumbling around learning how to do it.

They were fine, but I'm not an expert chicken owner or vet.

Once you vaccinate you need to check in about 7-10 days the vaccination point for a small reaction site. Kinda like a small scab. If a chicken has no reaction mark they will need to be re-vaccinated. It helps if you stick all of the birds in the same wing/spot so its easy to locate the reaction site later when you check to see if it works.

The pox vaccine won't help all of the birds, just the ones that don't have pox yet. If they were already exposed they might get it anyway. I would vaccinate next year too and every new bird/ chick on your property. Some breeders vaccinate twice a year spring/fall in bad areas where mosquitos are a big problem.

Good luck
