My incubator WAS a still air and I didn't have a turner. I just made sure I was turning them at least 3 times a day didn't touch them after day 18 it wasn't until day 22-23 I got worried and picked a few up and I think that's why a few didn't make it :-/.. I did soo much reading soooo much.... The only thing I would do different myself this time and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for my hatch on Tuesday is watching my water and humidity... I did put extra dished of water in the bater to help with good moisture and on day 20-21 I started moistening the eggs a little... I checked my eggs that's are about to hatch they look good so hopefully I'll have a good hatch!!! I hope your next round is a success!!!

What kind of chick is the one with the spot on his head? Just for info girl and boy both have white spots on their head if they are barred rocks.

I rescued all of my chickens I have no clue what kind they are... Here are some pics if you think you could tell.... The only one I know I have for sure I think is a red star...

I used wet sponges in mine at lockdown (along with the filled water trays) and it worked great keeping the humidity up and it was easier to slip out and rewet and slip back in w/o loosing humidity.

I agree I didn't have a sponge but used wet towels and it worked great

I think I have figured out at least a few of my breeds.. I have a New Hampshire red rooster, barred rocks, red stars, black stars.. But I have 3 other breeds I haven't figured out... My all whit girls I have brown girls but they are not the red stars I don't think because they are darker and my 2 black girls... The black ones have a kinda green tent to there feathers and there legs have a little black on them too kinda like one of the baby chicks.. So my new chicks I have the barred rock a red star and the other I think is one of the black chickens.... Any ideas with the pictures what my other 3 breeds are?

I figured out my black chickens are black australorps so I'm pretty sure the third baby chicks is the same... But still don't know what my all white girls and the brown chickens.

I think I may have been wrong I think my baby chicks are one black australorp one New Hampshire red, and one barred rock...

I have my other 4 that I had set to hatch 12/1 but after my last go round I figured they wouldn't hatch till probably Wednesday so I stopped flipping them 11/29... Needless to say one actually pipped already... Kinda shocked I had started to raise the humidity but didn't get my dish and the wet paper towel ( don't have a sponge) in till today and I can't believe one is hatching :D can't wait to see what kind this one is... My girls all lay together so aside from the obvious white eggs I don't know what ones the brown one will be... Here is a question... With my white eggs... Since my girls are white hens but my rooster is a New Hampshire red do the eggs always come out what the hen was or possibly what the rooster was or is it just a mixed breed??
