Did you buy sexed Silkies from MyPetChicken.com and....

If you have called MPC and even gotten any sort of response (like a live human being), consider yourself lucky, LOL. Many people over the last few months have had issues with them and not been able to get a single response. I ordered several birds from them over the summer, including several Silkies. A couple of the Silkies died in the first 24 hours and several of the birds were not sexed right. The Silkies are not old enough to know "for sure", but several of the birds in my group (it wasn't all Silkies) are already confirmed roos. I have posted about another Silkie previously that we suspect is a roo and most people here have agreed that he probably is. If that bird (let alone any of the others that are still gender ambiguous) is a roo, then they got 50-60% of the remaining birds correct. It is hard to say an exact percentage since a couple died and a few are still too ambiguous to tell.

At any rate, of the remaining birds that have done well, FAR more than 10% were roos. I have ordered straight run and done nearly as well.

So they said they would send me my 2 females on my next order to replace these 2 males...but....should I take a gamble on it???

Are you planning on selling any of your females? Or are you wanting a breeding flock? I'm wanting a silky girl too...

I was just kidding. I love these she/he's. They aren't breeding stock for sure either!

Only if you were planning on ordering anyway. I don't think they will just send ones to replace the roos because you have to order five.

Well I was referring to this quote from you on this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=3413802#p3413802 when I started this topic:

"If you'd done your homework properly you would know that a Silkie CANNOT be sexed until they are nearing 6 months of age. And yes I know that MPC says they can, but they are a ripoff, and if you believe they can feel free to send your birds to them for sexing. These birds are WAY to young for ANYONE to know what they are, or even have an educated guess at it."

Do you KNOW how many times I've repeated that same quote in the nearly two years that I've been on BYC?

Nope. But I KNOW how many times I've read it.
