disinfecting feathers/ crafts using feathers please share

I would like to use the pretty feathers my flock loses. What is the best way to disinfect them?

Also, please share things you have made with your feathers. I know there has got to be some amazing things out there with all the talent on this group.

I have dried hole owl wings and when they are dried i have sprayd them with hair spray and repeated a few times. They are now 15 years old and stil beautiful.

I let mine soak in Virkon S. Though some I have not disinfected, like the birds of prey and peafowl feathers I got from a zoo. I don’t touch them after putting them wherever so I don’t worry too much.

I’m really not that creative but I wanted to save some of my quail’s eggs so I put this together. Just eggs, beads and guinea feathers

I do have a leather book I keep my best feathers and pressed plants in.
