Dixie Chicks

BC, beautiful pics.

Krista, once again, sorry for your loss. I hope you got to say goodbye.

Sam, nice to hear the worst is over.

I was supposed to accomplish loads today, but ended up not getting very much done. Donated some blood in the morning, the holidays are always a time of need when it comes to that. You guys should go too.

Then we hung a shelf in the kitchen, and since my replacement grow light still hasn't arrived, I bought a ten euro fluorescent light fitting and rigged up another one. I had a purple bulb giving light to the chilis in the living room, but that light is just horrible to look at. And the tomatoes are sprouting like crazy, so I needed to get that light back to them. Luckily I had some fluorescent 6500K bulbs, I just needed the fitting.

Sam your tomatoes seem to be sprouting nicely too. I think I have about 8-9 sprouts so far from 12 seeds planted on Tuesday.

Donating blood is something I've always wanted to do more of, only done it once, we all should do it often, just keep putting it off.

It's gotten a lot easier since we moved to the place we live in now, I have a donating station on the way to things. The previous place we lived had one too, but it was only open a week every two months, so I never remembered to go. It's a nice way to track your hemoglobin too. Mine was 153g/l today.

Just saw this on Craigslist for $58. Antique chicken feeder, top comes off. Pretty cool.

Is it ceramic? Quite pretty.

As expected, Karin kept complaining about how ugly my soda bottle basil pot was. I decided to make a concept of the pots we're planning on using for herbs and lettuce this summer.

Both of us like the design of these tomato sauce cans, so we've been saving them all winter.

I moved the basil from the soda bottle pot into this one, it was starting to push out it's first sprouts, but now they're not visible. I did try to keep the top layer of soil as intact as possible. We'll see what happens. Once it get's warmer, I'm going to rig up a lot more of these, and instead of the glass jar, they will stand on a gutter I rigged up on the bunny pen. I think it will look pretty cool.

Yeah ceramic or 'stoneware' like the old sauerkraut or pickle crocks. I'd
love to have it but it would just sit in the house, don't think I would let the chickens use it.
