yes, the rooster had frostbite. We were well down to -30 at the house multiple times. Even colder with windchill. Only things I've heard that help prevent frostbite is a well ventilated coop, and using deep litter method, mine have both. Little you can do when it gets that cold. I don't know how they survive, but I guess they get used to it just like a wild animal, at least they have shelter. The worse I've seen was roos that dipped their wattles in water, ouch!
