How about rice to pull moisture?
On shredders, is renting an option? We just went through 20 cubic yards of branches with a neighbor, the shredder rent for a day was 120€. We would have had time for double the amount of branches, and with cheaper VAT in the states, I'm guessing it's even cheaper to rent.
I put a big tarp behind where I was running my chainsaw, shocking how much it filled up with cutting just a couple logs up. I put it in paper bags and it dried out good within a few days.Wowsers! Got to love the "oops, roof is caving in, I guess that part was important" feeling
I have used slightly damp wood chips, even rained on wood chips and sawdust stuff....
If it is pretty wet, then I try to turn it every day for the first week.... it usually dries fast... then when it is dry I stop turning it.
True though, you wanna make sure it doesn't mold.
