Dixie Chicks

Hmm, maybe I remembered wrong,I found a short video of the henhouse, but it doesn't show quail in it. I have a recollection of seeing them in there though.

Nice idea, almost like a green house. I wonder if they have chickens roosting in trees at night.

I've got a really nice chicken tractor that DH built me last year for our chickens, then we realized it was way too small 3 weeks later. The quail can life in there for the summer!

I have to build a chicken tractor this weekend, or at least something temporary. Those silkies are going bonkers in their big box. SandHill chicks should be here next week, as long as Iowa doesn't shut down shipping. I heard they had another couple big farms hit with AI. I heard N Dakota shut down shipping.

I haven't had much experience with quail, but at the Korkeasaari Zoo in Helsinki, they have this tropical greenhouse space, where quail run free inside. They're pretty cool there. They also have a chicken coop with free range chickens, it's maybe 30 by 100 feet, and they usually have about 30-40 landrace chickens in there along with about 50 quail. It's pretty cool. It's inside, but it's built like a outside space, plants grow in there and they have a dirt floor.

I used to keep button quail in my big walk in aviary.... they do a good job of house keeping... cant keep em in a smaller cage because when they get startled they shoot straight up about five feet. Anything shorter and they bash their heads on the ceiling.

Bama-eggs looking good! I candled them and weighed them and put them under a broody BCM this morning. She was happy to have them. Once I finished putting them under her she adjusted herself and made a contented noise lol. I went off to my daughters to paint and just got back a little while ago.
I asked Sour for another Broody and lo and behold guess what in another nest box! Wohoo! I'm going to watch her for a couple of days and split the load! Awesome!

Awesome quilt pics too Deb!
