Good morning all! Last night little girl and I tried to help the hen with the sour crop "throw up". She has been in a box in the garage without food and water since Thursday night. Poor girl. The stuff that came out almost made us puke

. Not my 1st go around with sour crop and they never make it. I wasn't going to encourage her, but it had been over 24 hours and she had labored breathing.
Does anyone else have experience with this? I have had this astrolorp for over 2 years and she has never been sick or had any issues. I am going to get her some yogurt today and give it to her when I get home from work. I checked on her this morning at 4:10am and she is alive & upright. Thankfully.

My 3 chickens I got from the swap are hanging in there. The barred rock still acts weird. Not breathing hard or anything, just sits fluffed up a lot. She will not come off the roost and eat with the others. But I have seen her eating and drinking afterward. I checked her crop and it's fine.
The Jersey Giant looks and acts great. But, she has been with the other 2 chickens, so she is still quarantined in case it's some bad disease.
The Easter Egger is doing a lot better. She had heavy breathing, coughing and sneezing. I gave her some antibiotics. Also from the advice of @birdman55 , I also gave them all worm medicine to narrow down any possibilities of illnesses. Hoping they all do ok and I have learned a very valuable lesson. Check those chickens out thoroughly before purchasing them!

4:26am here and the roosters just started crowing.

Good morning!

Came home last night to my broody finally sitting on all the eggs so left them all with her. Stupid me. One rolled away from her over night again.

Sometimes I should just listen to myself. In good news though when I reached in to put the egg in front of her she made that "gurr" sound which to me means she is actually (going) broody. Her comb is no longer as red.

Best of luck CW. Keep me posted.
Are you referring to sour George? Sourland is famous
yep! He is world reknowned for his broody making abilities.

@Outpost JWB I had one last year and fed her some yogurt with some (1 dose) 3 day monistat stuff mixed in. (The stuff you get at Walmart). I also put 1/2 teasppoon olive oil in. Only fed a little bit to make sure all was eaten and digested. maybe a couple of table spoons total. and didnt feed again for 12 hours. Worked for me. Good Luck.

Congrats BC on the broody!
