Dixie Chicks

I love little grey! Looks so happy.

He is happy, spoiling him tremendously since he's a loner so far... got 2 more pics I'll PM you, Jim'd prolly kill me if I posted them, lol... ;)

And you are a GOOD chicken mommy!! You've tried your best to take care of the poor chick and are giving it a forever home... that's a lot more than some would do... :hugs

I appreciate that others understand @Alaskan and @RavynFallen. It didn't bother me after a couple days cause it was no longer in pain but after the mess today it's hurting again and I feel terrible about it. I just gave it some more aspirin. I had separated it from the little calls that are smaller than it as I thought they were distressing it but I put I back to see and it started to eat and drink and move around more. I guess I'm going to leave it in there for the night and see how it goes.

There's the Jem we know and love!

what does a house chicken entail?
I guess we'd have to do chicken diapers to keep the mess down. Other than that it seems pretty simple. Of course it wouldn't live inside 24/7 but I don't know how she'll do with 1 and 1/2 wings if she survives it all.

I'm a little worried the others will bother her or she won't get around as well. Even tonight she's way off balance but I still have the damaged wing wrapped in gauze and wrapped the gauze around her body so she can't flail it around in hopes it will heal fairly clean.

I think a secure outside area for her would be sufficient, and suppervized free ranging as she won't be able to get away from predators as well... you've done well by her, and as hard as it is to see her in pain, better the pain now than leaving a useless piece of limb attached that could go septic and cause her worse pain or death...

I dunno i'd kinda think wing would be least of problems of loose of limbs...........for them to survive n thrive...

I agree with that too... and at her age she will adapt quicker and easier than if she was an adult... bet she figures out how to get around a little handicap auite well... :)

And Mini, if you have any upcoming hatches soon, maybe move her in with even younger brooder mates? Might help to keep others from picking on her??
