Dixie Chicks

No, haven't been affected by the oil lay offs yet! Dh and I drove to the west coast in one day yesterday. (1000 miles). We will spent the next couple of days hopping from island to island (gulf islands) trying to decide where to live next.

You'll find it! :thumbsup

Woo Hoo :weee
Another 3.8 pounds down  :yesss: for a grand total of 14.4

For those who dont know me five weeks ago I joined Weight Watchers.  My goal is to loose about 220 pounds.    I was killing myself.  wont go into those details. But...  I am feeling soo much more alive.

I finally figured out why I am so achy all the time....  because I am freaking moving again.  My legs have gone down considerably...  my lower legs . Before they were very hard and un yielding one solid discolored lump from my ankle up about eight inches...  I can now squish them about and much  of the pitting edema is gone.  Not all.  If I sit up too long without getting up to move it comes back. UNDERSTANDABLE.

So looks like I will be able to rebuild my Coop after all...

:yesss: way to go!!! :yiipchick

@perchie.girl Way to go deb! Your on a role.
Looking forward to seeing your new coop build. Do you still plan on getting sumatras? I think minihorse got some that are fibro? I think if I lived in your hot climate I would try Egyptian fayoumi also, the 'quail' of the chicken world, fast maturing.

Dunno if she got Sumatras, but mini got Fibro Phoenix...

@perchie.girl I don't think we can find LF silkies in the US. I will be breeding my very large white TSC silkie rooster to a couple of my white jersey giant hens in the spring. Then back breeding them and selecting for silkie feathering, somewhat of a poofy head, and large size. And then line breeding them. Hoping for giant silkie fibro meat chicken broodies that can cover way more eggs.

Thats what I ment about breeding silkeys larger... crossing them with silkied Amauracanas who are LF... so the cross would be a silky bird with blue eggs...

Or Sumatra crossed with Black Amaraucanas... Blue egged Sumatras....

What ever I have will need to be anything other than white. White stands out too much here. And it will have to be breeds that can handle the heat... hard feathered clean legged... We do get some cold in the winter but the new coop should fix the need for rose combs.

I've always wanted Malay. Too cold here. I've talked to a guy who has them in northern PA he winters them in a greenhouse. Just not enough room here right now with what I'm doing to add another breed at the moment. And they are not very productive. Just think it would be awesome to have three foot tall chickens lol.

@minihorse927 Ohiki update...
