Oh! I finally got Paint Silkies! Well, one cockerel that looks really good... the pullet I thought was white has one single, itty bitty black fluff feather on her back...

He hatched with 2 spots... watching his spots spread was a trip, lol...

nice! I've got a paint silkie hen, she's ugly as ever, but definitely spotted!


I'm sorry to hear that wvduckchick. I know how it feels to feed and water for an hour in the dark. It sucks. It was storming here while I was finishing up. The things we do for our animals

I've got one strand of heat tape right now and plans for how to use it with pvc, hoping to work on it this weekend.

Nope, him and the pullet are from Ruby's... I gotta get new pics of Oz's... the first 2 are a really pretty pair of whites, cockerel and pullet... the 5 kids are in that awkward teenage stage now, lol...

Ya know, I haven't seen that stage with the self blue oegbs yet. I think they flew right thru it.
And I forgot you got some from Ruby. She has done great with her birds. Finally. Lol

The only SB of ours that went through that stage was the one that crawled under her hatchmates at night, lol... most of ours don't have a bad teenage phase, might be cuz of the higher protein we give them...

But Silkies always look funny before their crests fill out and they lose their sight...

ETA: yep, she finally got rid of all but the best too...

Do you still have ancona's?
Would like to get duck hatching eggs in the spring, seems kinda silly I have a pond and no ducks.
Not sure what breed yet though. Want something good for meat and don't want pekins again. Want a friendly breed and debating between ancona, welsh harlequin and cayuga.

yep.. Still got Ancona. And I will be producing all possible colors of Ancona next year.
