My 11yr old daughter was reading some of these posts the other day when I left the laptop on. She said 'what's wrong with you people, don't you have anything better to do, you all sound like a bunch of chicken freaks' Lol!

I just realized I ordered 41 chicks, plus they throw in that "exotic" chick for free plus I figure on a couple extras in case of death. I'm going to have 45+ chicks the first of May. :/

I had 15 RIRs about eight yrs ago. I put a heat lamp above their water dish to keep it thawed out and they all laid straight through winter. I almost put a light on these but figured it might burn them out quicker, plus they hadn't started laying yet until after winter hit. I'm still getting eggs with no light.

I started getting a few eggs right on the day of the equinox, then the cold plunge and the light has really upped the count. The egg I am trying to hatch was just put in the 'bater to see if the roo was mature enough to produce.

My brooder heat lamp has been rigged to my telescoping clothes steamer pole. Sweet...easy to adjust. I have an indoor/outdoor temp gadget with a wire dangling into the brooder to masure 95 degrees at chick level. Now all I need is the chick.

Jim finally was able to get into town to pick up necessities...
Had to stop at TSC for chick food, and they got their chicks in...
Needless to say, we have 6 new EE pullets...

I wanted the welsummer for just that,the egg color! I ordered 8 welsummer straight run, 8 blue andalusions straight run, and 10 rosecomb brown leghorn straight run and 15 pullet brown leghorn rosecomb.

Hey mahen. Wow that's busts my brooder . I got one that's 4 ft long 10 inches tall with with double heatlamps with dimmer switches. If my wife sees your post I'm in trouble!! Lol
