Dixie Chicks

@perchie.girl Here's one you might be interested in deb. A farm in NY, Cabbage Hill has been perfecting their own breed of fibromelanistic chicken, black meat for over 14yrs. It has a few other rare Indonesian breeds in it but I think mainly Cemani and Sumatra. Looks pretty cool.

They call it Cabbage Hill Charcoal Chicken.
He has the physical conformation of a Sumatra... But feather feet....

Sumatra are pretty closet to being melanistic... And Sumatras every once and a while throw back to the coloring above. I cant see his legs well enough to see past the feathers... I wonder if he had multiple spurs. And Yes I know Melanism can occure in all Chickens

Very pretty bird though.

Main reason I like a mud room is the two separate doors before you go into the house, no cold wind blowing in. I'm not taking a pic of mine, it doubles as my junk and I don't feel like taking the garbage out room. We also have an extra fridge and our big chest freezer out there.

Read up again on the health benefits of black meat chicken. It contains way less calories than regular chicken. 100grams of black meat chicken has 2grams fat, regular chicken 8grams. It contains high levels of the amino acid carnosine, an antioxident. Black chicken has double the amount of carnosine than regular chicken. Cabbage Hill worked with their genetics to breed for the highest levels of carnosine. It is anti aging for one, will make you live longer. It also blocks heavy metals from the brain and prevents dementia. Boosts eye health, prevents cataracts. Nutralizes free radicals and repairs damaged cells.Protects organs and helps to prevent diabetes and other diseases. Reverses the aging process. No wonder Chinese people live long lives. Silkie chickens are also fibromelanistic.

Be a good one to do bone broth with.... and or use alll the bird.

Quote: Here we keep the Big windows in the shade.... But for the most part small windows to keep the cool air in .... That works for keeping cool air out. Also a mudroom here.... for the front door.... or any door that has lots of traffic. Not for mud as much as to act as a wind break and sand trap. I really like the idea of using that space to keep your outside shoes... Keeps the rest of the house cleaner.

They are handy. I need to screen in my decks to hopefully keep out bugs... The front entrance has a tiny little deck if we screen it in and give it a roof it'll be like an Alabama style mud room... porch...
