Dixie Chicks

@vehve my OH tried to make me get a new car, I finally won that argument... the only drawback to having a car guy around, he's a bit of a snob about cars, lol...

@Outpost JWB they lay ok, not as much as a regular layer, but better than 1 a week! :D anywhere from 3-5 a week, give or take... the novelty of the blue eggs seems to make up for not going 6 a week...

Arent the CCL:s basically a bit of leghorn and barred rock mixed with some spices? One would think that makes for quite efficient layers.

It seems to depend on which lines they came from... some lay better than others, and in US, our lines aren't very genetically diverse...

Didn't Bama just say he got his first CCL egg yesterday?

I went back through pages of threads and I GIVE UP! @bamadude - Please tell me about your CCLs

If I get them, I may have to make a tough decision to sell or give away my SS roo (Sue). He is so beautiful and I have wanted to breed SS, but something bad always happens to all the girl pullets I get. I am about to give up on that breed. Rethinking my breeding plan.

How old are your little ones rayvn? My middle daughter goes on the egg and chicken adventures with me. We went to one home last year where I got the lavender orps, keep in mind she is 15. Out strolls this lanky country boy that goes to the school in the next county over. Good looking little guy maybe 17 years old. My DD couldn't even talk she was so smitten. Her face turned red the whole 9 yards lmao. We got in the car an I explained to her that boys like that.... Mannered hard working.... Polite.... Those are the ones I wouldn't mind letting her go out with. Well that sealed the deal, I don't go anywhere to mess with chickens and ducks that she is not by my side hoping for another young teen country boy to be there lol.

Haha, JW, having Dad as a wingman

Well, whatever works.

In a few days we will get our 500th egg! This little thing has been quite productive so far. We're still nowhere near the chickens paying for their keep if construction costs are taken into account, but still, pretty nice.

The chickens or children? lol, I am confused... I was talking about my young EE's, Ameraucanas and Sulmtalers getting close to POL...
My little girls are 7 1/2 and 11 1/2, but unfortunately not living with me right now, going thru nasty custody battle... part of my depression issues right now, I know...

Divorce is hard on everyone. My grown son was slung in the muck through my divorce. UGH! Poor kids. Poor you. He (son) is married now, lives just down the road from me and I see him, or talk to him weekly. Ex and I had "shared parenting" but ex would pull stuff like, "I can't bring him tonight, car broke down", "He is spending the night with friend", or just not be there and not answer the phone. It was a hard fight.

Now on 2nd marriage. 10years
