Dixie Chicks

If you cut it, cut it 3x bigger than what you need and fold it to keep it from frying to bad, when it wears out just staple more on...
Yes, but only one laying right now, lol... were laying well thru the cold snap and went on strike as soon as it warmed up... uh, but you are closer to Knoxville, yes? I am closer to Nashville, south of it... I do like road trips tho... when my younger ones start laying maybe we can figure something out? Just let me know, got several other breeds too...
I just bought decent grass hay, not straw, for $4 a bale from a cattle rancher... regular sized square bales, not the minis Home Depot and Lowes sells, lol...

We pay $5 a bale from farmers around here or from our feed store. I bought a mini bale (not knowing it was going to be mini) for $7 at a local hardware store one day when we ran out. I couldn't believe how small it was and the guy that loaded it for me (young teenage boy) acted like he was dying carrying that little thing!

JWB, Karin has been researching supplemental feed for the bunnies, along with grass and hay, and some chewable stuff like carrots etc, you can apparently get a pretty balanced diet with horse feed. Since a bunny has a lot smaller appetite than a horse, it would be quite cheap too. Just need to find something that suits them.

Ravyn, as did I, but I didn't take out the cage. I've got a custom dog cage in the back of the Nissan, it takes up 60% of the trunk. I did get two bales into it, but it sort of divides the space so that it was a bit difficult to get everything to fit. Without it I would have gotten at least 12 bales in there easily. Maybe even 16, that little pretend 4x4 is a wonder of space.

Heya, @Outpost JWB, Cream Legbars are a bit flighty, but not too bad... cockerels seem to start crowing a lot earlier than any other breeds I have had, and they are very hormonal til they get a bit older... hens are super sweet tho...

Yup, I've met that mini bale, lol... tossed it with one hand into the run and even the chickens looked for the rest of it! :D

Yup, my minivan is the same way... everyone picked on me about it until I helped my neighbor get new furniture... his full sized couch fit right in it, they quit picking when they saw that... :D

Hmmmm. I will check out the horse feed thing. Not sure if it's much cheaper than rabbit feed here though. We are still on our 1st bag of feed. Not even 1/2 way gone. I have put the bunnies out twice (only twice because of weather and hawks) to free range in a little collapsible fence. I also feed them scraps-veggies. Broccoli, carrots, celery. Little girl one time dumped the chicken scraps in their bowl and they turned their nose up at it. Cooked eggs, broken up eggs shells, grease from hamburger, they just didn't like that menu. LOL!

Good morning @bekkanblue

@RavynFallen , great job in squeezing all those bales in there!

We had a Peugeot 307 before the Nissan, that thing was amazing. The back seats were completely removable, so you had empty space floor to ceiling in it. And still, it was a pretty small car on the outside.

Do the hens lay frequently? I had a partridge cochin (loved her), but she only gave me (maybe,) one egg a week!
