Dixie Chicks

Thanks out post! My DW and the teens are all watching me close. My main concern to the doctor was I am a cut up and a prankster and I didn't want anything to kill all that off. I like having fun and being the class clown and I didn't want to loose any of that.

JW, perhaps you'll develop a dry sense of humor. Like for instance, why do the French only eat one egg for breakfast? Because in France, one egg is un oeuf.

That works very much better told out loud. Although, even then it isn't that funny.

By the way, something I noticed, the Chrome spell check seems to be a bit racist. It doesn't highlight french while it does highlight english. And american is ok too, but not canadian. Weird.

Oh, favorite TV shows. At the moment, Orange is the new black. But all time favorites, hmm... I really like The West Wing. And The Newsroom continues in the same fashion. And House of Cards. The Wire was great too. I remember I really liked ER, and Arrested Development was great too, the original three seasons. Somehow I didn't warm up to the fourth one that came out last year. JAG I found pretty entertaining too, I could have continued watching How I met your mother. Can't really remember too many comedies from the past, but I'm sure there are many I thought ended too soon. Friends was not among them though, I'm not sure if I actually didn't like it, or if the endless amount of reruns ruined it for me.

Oh, and after no egg Tuesday, we got three eggs first thing this morning, Wilma broke her record once again. 68 grams this time. We're getting about a kilo of eggs per week at the moment, no too bad. I also put some oats, wheat and peas on a tray and sprayed some water on them. I'm going to try a no soak sprouting method. Just using a spray bottle to spray them a couple times per day, I'm a bit lazy and don't want to do the rinsing.

I think that would work. just have to monitor them and see how they do. My father used to sprout seeds in a plastic ziplock bag on a damp paper towel, no mold, and if he forgot about them they would be like 6-8 inches long. I always preferred straight to dirt, no damage to the fine 'hair' roots that way.
Not going to mention what kind of seeds they were...

I bet they would be good for chickens though. Isn't 'hemp' seeds a good food source? And speaking from experience it's easy to grow tons of seeds

Hemp would make a great feed additive, it's pretty high in protein. I've been e-mailing my bedding supplier, but they apparently don't have feed in the plans yet. I'd like it because it grows pretty well in our climate too, and it would make for a nice alternative to imported soy from Argentina or China or wherever most of it is grown.

I decided to try to make a time lapse series of the sprouting, I'll try to take some pictures as they start to sprout. I don't want to plant them in dirt though, because it's a waste of soil, I prefer everything on that platter to be edible. It seems to be retaining some moisture on it, in the past when I've sprouted like that I've had some household tissue on the bottom to keep the moisture in, now I'm trying with just the seeds. But we'll see in the weekend how it works out. The spraying is very low labor at least, that I like about it.

Bring back a TV show? I was addicted to M*A*S*H one cold winter when I was single still working the blue stone quarry. About the time I was half finished with my nightly twelve pack PBS played reruns of it, hilarious, and serious, about the same time period Bablyon 5 was a favorite, watched that one with black berry brandy.
I would love to see Firefly and Jericho again, I'm still wondering what happens next. I think there is still a chance for 'the show about nothing' to have a comeback, Seinfeld.
Steven Spielberg's Terra Nova, cancelled to soon. Started watching one last year on NBC called 'Believe' it was awesome, canceled after twelve episodes.
Loved Little House on the Prairie, and The Waltons when I was a kid, my Grandparents always watched them. With Laura Ingalls Wilder's new self biography out 'Pioneer Girl' it would be great to see a new series'. The new book is more true to life and not 'sanitized' for children.

Morning all! Sorry for my absence the last few days, but I am hoping to be back in action!

Our weather was quite warm (+6C!!!) and has finally cooled down again, -9 this morning and new snow!

Chickens are happy, they had a few days out in the run. Egg production is up too, I have 6 layers now!!

Plus my one 2013 Chantecler is also laying again. Her egg was 59g yesterday, in the fall she averaged 66g. Time to start selling eggs to co-workers. No way I can eat 6 eggs a day to keep up!
