Dixie Chicks

Hello, are you kidding? Did you really? I never know if someone is joking or not even if they insert a LOL. There have been times I see an interesting thread and I am tempted to back read and barely backup a reply or two. Good for you if you have that kind of patience. I don't. I can admire someone who really is interested enough to back read more
than a page.

I read the whole Jersey Giant thread, most of the Langshan thread, and a couple Cemanis threads (those people are nuts! thread ended up being shut down, can't call a cemani cross a cemani cross, call it something else like they don't want the name tainted etc. Nuts! Oh and on the Langshans site don't call a roo a roo, or your not a serious breeder, it's a cockerel!, nuts!).

Well, either our 7 week old baby cockerel is nearing point of lay, or then Eemeli the roo is a bit sexually confused. I was alarmed by a heck of a screaming coming from the yard, and went out to investigate. Eemeli had cornered the more developed baby roo in the run, and was having his way with him. Poor little guy was all shook up, he just remained motionless in the corner afterwards. Karin poked him out of there with a rake, he seemed to be unharmed. I also noticed that he's starting to get a beautiful coppery brown in his feathering, I think he will develop quite pretty colors.

We also just went for a walk, and we again found evidence of some predator lurking in our little neck of the woods. A week ago Kiusa brought us an detached ear, and today she came running with this.

Seems like a fresh kill, probably from last night.

WOW! Those people need to lighten up.

@vehve , better make sure the coop is secured. Either that or your dog is a much better hunter than DH

I have a genetics questions.....please. What happens if I take a Crested Cream Legbar Roo & breed with an Easter Egger? I want to breed my Olive Eggers, Easter Eggers, and French Marans with a French Marans Roo, but have not found a good roo yet. So was wandering on the CCL & EE cross. Will it continue to be a EE? Because my goal is that the offspring will lay colored eggs as well.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Bobby. Sounds like more than a pet. Sounds like a member of your family. So sorry for your loss.
Thanks... we miss him even tho it's been a few years. At least now we can talk about our fun times without crying each time! I don't have any pictures of him on my work computer, but I'll post one some day.

She looks proud of her find!

JWB, She'll chase them, but won't bring them down. She runs after them every morning, but if she catches them, she just gets a dumbfounded look on her face... The predator hasn't made it's way to our yard yet, and the run is pretty secure. At least from something big enough to take down a little deer.

EExCCL should make for more EE:s I think.

BC, yeah, she's very proud of her find. The back end starts whipping around like crazy on her every time she finds something. Then you just need to thank her and tell her she's a good girl. It's ok with fresh stuff, but a week old bird in the summer... ugh.
