hahah killing me felix lol kilo? ugh six months thats a wait for an egg layer...although with waiting so long to lay  do they then tend to lay with better longevity? 

6 months is cake! My large fowl cochins are 10 months and not a egg in sight! My breeds all take longer to lay averaging 6 to 8 months. They do lay well into the 5 and 6 year old years. If not longer.

I really like our olive egger. She's been broody twice, but other than that, she lays pretty much every day. She might pause once every two weeks or so, but still, very reliable. Wilma averages about 6 eggs a week, maybe slightly less, and Emma gives about 5 a week. Virpi lays well when she's laying, but she's a bit of a broody monster. Couple weeks of eggs, then broody, then again a couple weeks of eggs... I'm actually a bit worried for her, she really would need to start gaining some weight. I think I'm going to force Karin to sit down with me and add a couple of more amino acids into our calculations and see if we've got some major problems with our feed. I know it's a bit low on methionine, but it shouldn't be that low that it causes problems.

Jem, I think any chicks are in the risk zone. The chick we lost was a LF chick couple of days old, and she managed to squeeze through a less than an inch wide gap when she got herself killed. You could line the bottom 6-8 inches with some plastic or something for the first week or two.

hmmm ahhh I migvht have some leftover metel roofing from my henhouse roofing...maybe a thin slip along the bottom............probly have enough of that scrap for that it's to small for much anything else..
