Dixie Chicks

jem, Dave's Garden has pretty good reviews setup on most hatcheries. 'The scoop' on so and so hatchery.
The only one I've ordered from is Meyer's, all 21 birds argued healthy and lived.
I finally got a confirmation notice from sandhill, I called a couple weeks ago anyway so I knew I was getting them. I was expecting a email, they sent a actual letter in the real mail Lol! Hopefully come May I'll have some pics!

Ha ha spell check put argued instead of arrived!

I've ordered from:
J.M. Hatchery - Freedom Ranger meat birds
Mt. Healthy Hatchery - this is the hatchery our co-op orders from, got my very first chickens, Easter Eggers, from them and went together with some others for a later order from them that included golden laced wyandottes
Schlecht Hatchery - Cornish X broilers and silver laced wyandottes (not good examples of them)

I continue to order my Cornish X meat birds from Schlecht and have a friend that orders with me so we can get a better price. They are a short term commitment for filling a freezer.
I have a different friend that likes the Freedom Rangers from J.M. Hatchery so I will share an order with her when she wants so we can get a better price or meet the minimum.

I would recommend any of the above hatcheries but BYCers are where all of the birds in my current, and permanent, flock come from.

it was a rainbow day in the nest boxes!

We ordered 10 'leanns adopt me' mystery chicks along with the ones we wanted from Meyer's, they were cheep. This spring we planned on ordering from their all roos deal they are cheep cheep, .28cents each if you want a hundred. But that was when we only planned on having six laying hens. Now with the chicken math and you'all being enablers we have those sandhill ones coming, and I want to hatch out more wellies, between the three breeds I think we will just hatch out our meat birds as culls.

Congrats jem! Our girls laid six out of eight today, first time since they started laying this winter, come on spring and warmer weather!

Actually four breeds for meat culls, I forgot about the black meat birds!
I will be getting them soon maybe next week I'm on vacation, pics coming soon. She sent a pm and said she would sell me six pure cemani eggs for $100.
Should I take a hundred dollar gamble on the first time I try hatching? I would throw some of my wellie eggs in with them. I am scared but I'd hate to make a second four hour round trip to get them some other time.
