Dixie Chicks

Oh I was told I was a horrible duck mother cause I don't spray my duck eggs with water while incubating. Hahahaha. I was told I am lucky they ever hatch and they said I must have horrible hatch rates. Lol. They said that my luck would run out and nothing would hatch.

Have you looked at Strombergs? I thought their prices were too high, never realized shipping was included in the price, no other hatchery does that.
I didn't remember to look at that one.

ETA: I take that back. I did look at them. The pics they have for each breed don't match what they're telling you. They show a show or heritage bird, but it's not what you'll get.

unfortunately lately a lot of hatcheries do that. I hate it cause people get a false sense of security about getting good birds.

I've never had an issue with flock raiser or TSC dumor chick starter/grower. I like the flock raiser better. They grow better and mature faster on it.

Been using dumor, seems ok...

Heh... I always say ya gotta do what works for you... :)

One of my duckies isn't doing so good tho... been trying to get him to eat, but all he would eat is some flies... :/

Sandhill point blank tells in the description of each breed if they have faults, and what faults they are. They also explain they are not breeders for show, but a breed preservation center and only cull sick or defective birds. And you will still see reviews from people complaining that they thought they were getting show birds. I have heard their Delaware and New Hampshire are good big utility type like the breeds were originally, not puny poor examples like all the other hatcheries sell.

So sorry. I always give my ducklings some brewers yeast along with un-medicated chick starter.

@minihorse927 i REALLY like chocolate ducks! :love

I'm going to get some brewers yeast and try that this year. I've never done it before.

I'm sorry. Any other symptoms?

Interesting evening tonight. We we're supposed to discuss the wall dispute between our house (Us and the next door neighbors) and the annoying neighbors, but Karin had to go kill a cat so I went alone. We came up with some ideas, and then I mentioned in passing that it was my birthday, so I found my self back there half an hour later enjoying some bubbly. It was quite nice, actually. Then Karin came home, and after a few glasses of sparkling wine we finally had dinner at quarter to midnight. Some lovely steaks, grilled eggplant and a green salad with pecan nuts and baked chevre, and for dessert, grilled pineapple with artisinal chocolate ice cream.
What a nice b-day surprise.
