Do chickens ever fly over things without stopping at the top?

Whenever I see my chickens fly over anything, such as a fence or a wall, they follow this procedure:

1) Fly up onto the top of the thing they're flying over and land there.
2) Fly down from the thing.

They never fly over anything "in one go". In fact, I don't think I've ever seen them do that.

Do chickens ever fly over anything "in one go"?

I once was developing some type of Black crested bantam bird that once flew across my lawn (about 35 ft) before it landed beside me (who was holding a bucket of food)

My white leghorns & brown leghorns can clear 5ft w/o touching the top. They are flighty birds. They get clipped. The Easters can almost, but can't- but still try.
Rocks/javas/austra's/buffs/reds are too big of a bird.
My Dotte's are good flight birds.
I placed a hot wire/ground wire set up above my egg house run. It extends the fence up to about 5-1/2', but the leg horns think they are seagulls.. Pain in the butt they are. Thank God there are only 24 of them.
