Do chickens ever fly over things without stopping at the top?

Whenever I see my chickens fly over anything, such as a fence or a wall, they follow this procedure:

1) Fly up onto the top of the thing they're flying over and land there.
2) Fly down from the thing.

They never fly over anything "in one go". In fact, I don't think I've ever seen them do that.

Yes, that's why I had to stop using my electronet. They would fly over it, then the hawks would pick them off.

LOL, good question.
I think the first time they fly over, they stop. once they get the route figured out, they go for it.
they stop at the top just to show you that,
"hey buster, you need a better fence than this " ..

My white leghorns & brown leghorns can clear 5ft w/o touching the top. They are flighty birds. They get clipped. The Easters can almost, but can't- but still try.
Rocks/javas/austra's/buffs/reds are too big of a bird.
My Dotte's are good flight birds.
I placed a hot wire/ground wire set up above my egg house run. It extends the fence up to about 5-1/2', but the leg horns think they are seagulls.. Pain in the butt they are. Thank God there are only 24 of them.
