Do I have Bantams?

The small black one looks like a Barred Rock, not sure if it is bantam or not. Yellow one looks like it maybe an Easter Egger (which isn't a recongnized breed but often sold as Ameruacanas which are considered rarer I believe).

What would identify it as a bantam?

After rereading your first post I don't think it is a bantam. Is the yellow one growing normally (the same size as your other chicks at that age)? A bantam chick is smaller to begin with, so if the black one was the same size as the yellow one in the beginning then it probably is smaller or just growing slower. I hope that made sense . How much younger is the black one pictured next to the maran?

they are the same age. The black one was small to begin with, it fit in my fingertips (see attached pic on previous post). When I picked it up, it didn’t feel like I had anything in my hand. Very small. The yellow one was a little bigger than the black one but not as big as the normal chicks that I got at the same time.

I don't believe it's a bantam because it's head is about the same size as the other black one, only it's body is smaller. A bantam would have a smaller head in comparison to body size. It's always possible I'm wrong, and it will turn out to be a bantam, but to me it looks like it's not growing right which happens sometimes. Time will tell.

Ok that makes sense. Thank you for your help. Hopefully it turns out to be a bantam, and healthy. I didn’t even think about comparing head size.

Hi all. I bought 2 “rare mixed breeds” from the local farm store. Can anyone help me identify what breeds they might be? I’m pretty sure the black one is a bantam but I’m not sure about the yellow one. They were the same size when I bought them but the yellow one has outgrown the black one. The first picture is the white one next to ameracaunas. The second picture is the black bantam next to a normal sized maran.

I have 3 Bantam babies at home, I will take pics and post them for you to see. Don't believe any of your chicks are Bantam darling.

Here is the same black chick compared to an ameracauna who is the same age, 3 weeks. The black chicks head is tilted up, so you are seeing it’s beak, not a crown. Thoughts now? Still not growing right? Or a bantam?

It is hard to decide after that picture. I have never had bantam barred rocks so I can't say for sure either way.

He's got the same spot on his head as my Barred Rock, maybe that's what he is
