Do I want to learn about genetics? Yes. Is it very intimidating and scary? Yes.

Thank you so much! That was perfect! Now i know that my sweet RoX has "long" legs (which i am thrilled with) and kinda understand the rest of it. Thank you so very much. That's a sigh of relief for me and one step closer for him getting some girls of his own. Thanks again
Glad it could help! I hope everything works out with your little roo.

His favorite thing in LIFE is to come inside my grooming shop and dance at his reflection all the way around the shopvac! He'll peck at himself while going around too. It's so stinking hilarious! He's so little and gentle that he's at the bottom of the pecking order in his bachelor flock, so he can only have pleasure in dominating himself.

I may get some stink eyes but i prefer the long legs. To just hear about this, you'd think the long legs would look like a bird on stilts, but in my personal opinion, they look unnatural with the short legs (let me grab my shield before throwing rocks, please). They're all absolutely adorable but i just adore my little guy
Naw, long legs don’t look like stilts. They are the normal legs, short legs are the mutation.

Finally got a picture of RoX! Took me long enough, right? I absolutely love the picture showing him on his tippy toes crowing, hahaha! This little cockerel is so awesome and that's in comparison to a lot of boys that are here or have been here. He had a moment when he was a total jerk. From a previous experience with another cockerel that was turning into a jerk, I decided that he probably needed more space. That was in fact the problem in his case as well. He's been the best cockerel ever, in my personal experience.

I love this picture of RoX staring down my daughter's FNAF plushie.

Looking at him now I am thinking I was mistaken about his breed. He looks much more like a mottled OEGB than a Japanese.

That was a long time ago. I'm so happy that you remember him. I can't get over him being so white with a small amount of black and that perfect black X on his back. He feathered in so much different than I was expecting. He is significantly smaller than my other OEGB cockerels that are the same age, but he's just a small guy all around (you can probably assume that he is at the bottom of the pecking order by his battered wattles). Thank you so much for the clarification on his breed! You're awesome!

That actually works out much better since I'd like to put him with the OEGB pullets (splash breasted red, red Pyle, and self blue) and pyncheon pullet (not close to SOP, at all) that I got with him. Will any of these crosses make nice chicks?

That depends entirely on what your definition of “nice” is. My own definition of nice chicks would be a wide variety of coloring and pattern, but there are many others that are looking for something more uniform.
In the first generation, his chicks would likely be solid (or mostly solid with leakage) blue, black, or white. With the pyncheon, the chicks would have mottling (white spots) and would otherwise be solid black or solid black with gold leakage.

That was a silly question. I apologize. My definition of "nice" would be chicks that stand out from the rest and are eye catching :-D
