Do not Relocate predators!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Frankly, I'd love to know I would receive an immediate certain death over a delayed painful death. If given the two options . . . yeah, I'd choose the former. And I believe firmly in treating animals how I would wish to be treated myself if I was in their place.

I had a thread about a predator attack, and was typing everything that happened as it happened, for INFORMATION purposes to someone else who might be/have been in the same situation. I don't remember running around bragging, better yet, I said how I understood how the dog owners felt. As a matter of fact, the dog owners ATTACKED us too (verbally)!

You are free to choose your own death. But I would never presume to choose a death FOR you.

Or perhaps we should go shoot everyone in hospice care right now?.......That is where your argument leads, after all.....

Mrs. Lopez, capture and relocating is illegal. I am hoping you read through all of this, and looked up the statutes and laws in your own area. It shouldn't even be a consideration unless you are licensed to do so.

Most people decide to take a ride out to the "country" to dispose of critters. some of us live in the "country" are are sick of this illegal practice.

another line you wrote.. "If the enclosure is built strong enough, or every measure of safety is taken"

I Disagree. Racoon's in my opinion are smarter and meaner than most dogs. Skunks no one wants to deal with, and dogs and cats are non-native invasive in the wild.

The reason I started this thread is because I wanted to EDUCATE the general public that this is not a legal or sound practice and am sick of seeing people pop up in the predator and pests forum advocating this.

I know I am rehashing a lot of what I've said through 150 posts or so, but the same argument for pro relocating keeps popping up. I'd love for the Mod's to jump in with their opinions, and wonder what they think of the Pro relocating forum.

Finally, for those of you who do want to relocate animals, I would gladly join a separate thread where you guys can educate us on how to legally do so. I am a cake eating civilian and am not allowed to do this. I take the only legal method left to me. If there are steps to legally relocate I would gladly take them because I have nothing but time on my hands here and I do value all life.......I just value me and my own over others.

As animals with lower functioning brains they aren't exactly in a position to make an informed choice. I would never presume to allow an animal to suffer needlessly when they don't have to.

It doesn't matter who you were or were not referring to, bluey. That "respect" thing goes BOTH ways -- and there are *plenty* of people who fail to show respect around here, not just folks who object to killing.

very well said.

All I did was cite the rules of the section for mrszlopez's benefit. I'm not a big fan of using the report button. I'd much rather handle things directly.

If that is being disrespectful, maybe we need to grow a few more layers of skin.

Can we chill a little bit? This thread is gonna get closed! K? Now just back away from the computer and nobody gets hurt! Lol

Your last couple of sentences Mrs Lopez makes it clear to me. Predators and Pests seems to offend you. If it were me? I'd bow out instead of trying to get my thread locked. I am trying to be civil and help educate others out there.

No, bluey. Respect, remember? Don't assume things that aren't in evidence.

How about the upset of balance and territory of already established animals in the area of relocation? What about their suffering at the hands of a newly introduced predator?

Right. As I already mentioned, there are reasonable arguments against relocation. I could quibble with the questions you've stated above, but I don't think they're unreasonable questions to ask.

I asked you to cite research before about successful raccoon/opposum relocation and you were unable to do so because it does not exist in a "pest species". Therefore, how can you in all good conscience argue for it?

First, I'm not arguing for relocation. As I've already stated before. Second, I don't remember the earlier request. If you'll point me towards the specific earlier discussion, I'll be able to make more sensible comments about it.
