I love Fried Livers. Fried Gizzards are a little rubbery for my tastes. I do like all of the above in Giblet Dressing.
I cannot find any place that sells a chicken liver dinner here in Wi though. I have to make them myself.
Love beef liver smothered with onions but find chicken liver toooo dry, even if boiled. Could eat gizzards boiled, or fried all day long. Our Walmart sells both fried, but you have to request it, or else it would be hours old by the time it was ordered. My 9 year old thinks a trip to wally world is incomplete without fried grizzards and Oaker(okra)
I don't think eating parts of animals to improve your respective parts does anything. What is a heart besides a bunch of muscle fibers and collagen? Your stomach breaks it down to it's basic elements anyways.
I think the idea stems from Asian medicine, especially Chinese medicine, since they believe eating parts of animals with characteristics you want will give them to you.
The reason I think a lot of "medicine" works is because Asian medicine is based on preventive medicine so eating a variety of foods in moderation helps people NOT get sick. Western medicine though... who cares where you got it, let's just treat it.
Get migraines because coffee dependency? Stop drinking coffee? No, take Advil.
Luckily some are seeing preventive medicine as being a good idea now.
As for gizzards and other innards over the holidays, who ever get's to the soup pot first gets the best pieces!!!
