Do yolks get bigger as laying slows down for winter?

Just noticing something and wanted to see if anyone else experiences this.

My chickens started laying maybe end of august through September. They are slowing down with the cold and lack of sunlight (NW Colorado).

I came back from vacation and suddenly the yolks in their eggs are substantially larger. I’m wondering if this is from them reaching maturity or if it could be because they are laying eggs less frequently. Thanks!

I have no idea, but I'm interested to hear the answer from someone who does! :pop
