That's a broad brush approach to things that has got us in the condition we are in. Some kids do have REAL issues. I have seen too many fall through the cracks. I have seen firsthand people in prison that should be in mental hospitals, kids that should be medicated, people that should get help. On the flip side, I have also seen kids whose parents have REAL issues, people who aren't in prison that should be, kids that just need a good old fashioned spanking and some tough love, and folks that get more help than they need. Please be careful and considerate of how you post. What if someone told you that it was all in your head, and you were just being overly dramatic? That's a pretty judgemental statement you made.

I think this is practically normal. Besides, mine still tries to convince me the reason he put his PBJ in the VCR was because the dvd player told him to.

Most of my kids have gone through this at one point or another.. and when my old back can take it, you'll even find me on the ground barking at my dogs for the amusement of our grand daughter

My son has had issues since he's been born At 2 weeks the dr pointed at him and stated he wasn't a 2 week old, he had already learned to get on all fours and had 100% head control!. He developed way sooner then any other baby I know even escaping the exersaucer at 4 months, and talking full sentances at 8 months with understanding!He also had a large head which is a sign of autism( increased risk).he hated being held and loved sticky things always sticking them to his body then taking them off for hours at a time!

At about the age of 21/2 -3 I was taking him into the dr regularly just for his odd behavours as he was in daycare and they were concerned because he wasn't acting normal. At the age of 4 we were at the end of our ropes, we even had CPS involved due to his behaviors and odd stories( told cps his dad hit him with a real whale!) The dr decided to diagnose him with adhd/CD and told me he had other problems after he tore down the sink in the dr's office during his visit when he was with his grandparents! we tried going drug free for 4 month while he lived at his grandparent house but in the end he needed to go on concerta which worked for over 3 years he was at a adhd leval but it was way better then before. Now drugs haven't worked for 2 years, we did try new meds and so far nothing really has helped. even on concerta he's been hard to handle. Now his ODC is a huge problem. His dr labled him adhd/ocd/aspergers and tourettes. Tring b vitamines with magnesum to see if that helps as it's supposed to help autism. He went from a's to d's the d's is just a grade given because the school has no idea how to grade him because he can do the work he just doesn't, the school has done nothing for him and sees a Learning disibility seperate from a mental illness which has let my son slip through the cracks, next year I might home school him!

The thing that gets me is that in kindergarden we were going to home school him but we were told due to his diagnosis if I homeschooled we would get no help for him, they haven't even put him on a IEP!

Amber, when my son was aged 5-11 years old, I seriously thought he had mental problems. Not always, just in moments of battling Power Rangers by himself with full on blow by blow conversation. Nuttier than a fruit cake!!! Or when he was the lead character in a Teenager Mutant Ninja Turtle episode. That kid flew around the house all the time.

Then there was time he wanted to rent a movie and I told me I had no money. He said "Just go to the store and get some".
