do you have any phobias? (fear of something)

I kinda have that same fear...as heights don't really bother me, But edges DO! I can sit up on the roof of a pole barn or house in the middle and laugh and tell stories, BUT get me close to an edge and I panic BIG TIME!! So my fear is not of heights, but the edge or falling off. Driving across bridges where you can look off edge is terrible.

I'm with you on this one! I climbed the Hatteras lighthouse a few years ago. In the light chamber, I was fine, but every time I stepped out on the deck I felt like I couldn't breathe! I really felt silly, but there it was.

There used to be a rather skinny, high-rise bridge near Charleston. I had to drive over that thing going down to Savannah. Two way traffic, only two lanes - trucks coming at you was the stuff of nightmares! I'd be shaking, sweating, and out of breath every time I had to drive it, and riding in the passenger seat wasn't really any better. I cheered when they blew that thing up!

I have a fear of non-lethal heights.

Like if I know that if I fall and will die (say the top of a building) I'm fine, but things like ladders where if I fall I'm just going to break my arm or something scares the crap out of me!

Also have a fear of creepy dolls. Especially clown dolls and Chucky dolls. Almost any porcelin doll or a doll with weird eyes.

I'm afraid of bees, Horses, and Like DragonEggs said, dolls with funky eyes! When i was younger, i had these talking dolls, which eventually got annoying, u know, u would press the button and they'd say something, and then repeat it, and repeat it........ anyway, one time in a storm, (now these are battery operated dolls) they started talking! It was soo creepy and right away we thought of the chucky dolls!! So while it was thundering and lightning outside, we were trapped inside with our freaky deaky talking dolls!!! We got rid of them after that!!

You remember when the first Aladdin movie came out? I was just a kid back then and for christmas my parents bought me a snake staff like the one Jafar had. There was a button on the back and when you pushed it the mouth would open, it would hiss and the eyes would turn red. I noticed a screwed closed compartment on it one day and took the screw out and opened it to find an EMPTY battery compartment. I pressed the button again and it opened it's mouth, hissed, and the eyes glowed red. The battery compartment was EMPTY! I freaked, screamed and cried and made my parents get rid of it. To this day I STILL can't figure it out.

Me, too. I live in Minnesota and have to drive in close proximity to several bodies of water on a daily basis. Winter driving is no treat, especially before there's a good thick sheet of ice that would support a vehicle.

Not that it is a hysterical fear, but wouldn't it suck to have a mental illness that prevented you from realizing you have a mental illness. My son's friend developed schizophrenia. That would be miserable to have to deal with. Alzheimer's is another one. People manage them, but it would be awfully scary to be faced with it.

I guess my only other fear is of people emotionally close to me dying. Its happened too many times to me. (You'd think it would callous me, but it hasn't.) Suicide that I failed to prevent twice (and was aware of) is what set that one in stone. It makes getting emotionally close to someone difficult. I'm especially afraid of the death of my children, but I'm sure that's pretty typical of any parent.
