Do you know people grossed out by fresh eggs?

I have finally stopped laughing. I always thought that thebrown eggs were better for you. I know now, that they aren't its just the hen that lays them, thats all. I guess it was because you always see white eggs, and not so much of the brown at the store.

Well, so far I have not found anyone grossed out by my fresh eggs. Instead I find that folks who grew up on fresh eggs want them like CRAZY and so do folks who are trying to eat more locally. But my problem...I started out charging $2 a dozen, but at the local Albersons I see that vegetarian fed eggs are $4 a dozen - - I cannot figure out if I am being ripped off or if the folks buying those store "natural" eggs are more ripped off! LOL

So long as the girls earn their feed each month I am happy.

Here in NSW we have mostly brown eggs in the shops, so having our chooks lay brown eggs is not really a surprise. And our local free range farmer sells them for $4.00 a dozen. Free range eggs from the shops are between $5.50 and $6.00 a dozen, or you can get the "special" eggs that come in boxes of 10 for the same price (but the eggs have smiles stamped on them - must be better ;-) )

I have a realitive that refuses to eat any colored eggs. She said that they have to be bleached and that makes them white!?! What ever that means! And she grew up next door to grandpas farm!...in Kansas!!! How could she not know?!

If people are so freaked out by "home grown" eggs and meat they need to watch some youtube videos of industrial chicken farms and slaughter houses. They just might "get it" after seeing where their food really comes from!

This information should come in handy for folks who are trying to get the codes changed in their areas. It proves the benefits of fresh eggs

My DH is an "old Hippie", we have been gearing up to be self suffecient for a few years now. Planting fruit trees , gardening , growing herbs , learning old skills , and now chickens. I grew up rural and he helped on his uncles farms growing up . Returning to fresh and natural foods is our dream but so many of our friends and family think we have lost our minds . I am waiting for them to come begging when prices get worse in the stores . I will share of course but I will be laughing inside.

By the way a co-worker of mine says fresh eggs are too rich for her to eat and that if we have a rooster in the coop we will not get any eggs . Some times you just have to bite your tounge.

I grew up eating our chicken's eggs never had a store bought one until the first time I had to buy groceries. I was grossed out when I cracked an egg and the yellow was almost white. And tomatoes - how do they get the taste out, ours were tasty.

I don't know how people think that store bought syrup tastes like real maple syrup! There is just no comparison!
