Do you like just to sit and watch your flock be chickens?

I love to go out and watch my chickens. I am a stay at home mom. When the kids and I need
a break we go out and watch the chickens. They kids love to feed them raisins and the chicken
love to be feed raisins. Who needs a TV when you have a real live reality show in the back yard.
Even the kids are less high strung after a little bit of chicken therapy. They bring a calming effect
on everyone. We love our chickens and spend as much time with them as possible.

My friends laugh at me and think I'm nuts when I talk about my chickens.

I was thinking it would be cool to put a small table, 2 chairs (one to put my feet up on while I read a book,) a lamp and a phone in the run with me, but then I think - why would I want to answer the phone when I have my chickens to talk to???

Of course, I have to get my coop finished first.

P.S. Then I see my friends arguing and fighting and being stressed out, and I think - NOW WHO'S NUTS???

I love my job, but if I could, I would give it up to be a full-time homesteader. The joy my chickens bring me was completely unexpected. I can't imagine life without them!!!!

Yep...I love watching my chickens! And I especially love to watch them run! Fuuuuuny!

If I didn't sit and watch my chickens how would I know if Ramona is integrating into her new flock, or that Dotty pecks Lulu, but will defend her if anyone else tries it, or if the cockerels are taking care of their little flocks. I have a strategically placed lawn chair and a patio umbrella.

Every day when I come home from work I sit and talk to my three new babies (they are 3 weeks old today). They are all developing their own little personalities. I let them out of their little brooder and they walk all around and investigate things while I clean up their area. Love it. Wonder why it's so much different than spending time with other critters?

I sit in our barn and let all of the chickens roam then I go into the big coop and sit in there. Inside the big coop I've got the sweetest chicken that comes over every time I go in and we talk. LOL she gets mad if I don't pick her up and chat.
