Do you like seafood?

I'm not clogging your arteries like mayo, though. ;)

Interesting. Don't people generally categorize freshwater fish and crustaceans as "sea food?"
But crocs and gators aren't fish or crustaceans. They're reptiles. They aren't seafood anymore than ducks would be seafood.

That sounds amazing 😍
The pictures were really cool.
I'm a desert rat, man. I am the wrong person to ask :p My definition is that it has to come from a sea to be seafood. Freshwater stuff is either "fish" or "crawdad". In either case, I would not call a gator seafood or fish, any more than I'd call a bison "beef".
That's true.
Was that at Biosphere? I don't know of any such place here. There's a couple new big water attractions under construction, maybe one of those...

Hmm. I"ll have to do some googling and see if I can figger it out.
I did some Googling myself and couldn't turn anything up. This was back before COVID of course. In the mid-2010s. If I remember correctly, they were outdoors. I believe they were growing corals and marine reef fish. I've even tried Googling Coral Magazine with no luck. I can't see back issues.

Might be the Odyssea Aquarium too. Before covid they did scuba encounters in their big reef tank and dolphin habitat, but they lost 3 dolphins and closed that all down.

I like all sorts of seafood..unless it resembles a phleghm wad. Though I will try almost anything once. I never eat seafood out..its asking for food poisoning. I love a good ahi tuna steak cooked on my cast iron griddle. Blackened of course. And fresh shrimp is the only way to go. Once you have it straight from the ocean I think it ruins other shrimp. I only eat not so fresh shrimp when it's seasoned and stuck in something. Like Cajun pasta.

No, but I generally only see gator at "seafood" restaurants. Which is what made me think about it. On the menu there isn't an "other" option. They don't put them with poultry. So they stick them with the fish.

I feel like it wasn't an aquarium, but maybe. Always sad when aquariums lose big stuff like that. A bit like the Georgia Aquarium losing Ralph and Norton. Instant Ocean the marine salt brand had just made t-shirts that say Ralph and Norton swim in us, and shipped to their retailers when the two whale sharks died. Looking up the names (I'd forgotten Norton) it looks like Alice and Trixie died in 2020 and 2021 after more than 15 years in captivity.

How did the dolphins die? ☹️
I don't think any official causes were announced except for one which had some kind of undiagnosed muscle disorder and was 22. The general consensus was a combination of stress and the introduction of new gerns and spores in our desert air to creatures not acclimated to living here. They lost 4 of 8 and then the company holding the care contract pulled the other 4 out and took them to St Thomas.
