The only one here of the top of my head that I know actually has had a dobie is @MotherofOrpies

I know you can though. Just might be difficult with the high prey drive

I haven’t read everything, it took ages (about 4 years) for my dog with very high prey drive to get used to the chickens, the dog before munched but didn’t kill outright the rooster, so I said the next dog needs to be safe around chickens, there will always come a time the animals will meet without supervision, Murphy says hello so, at first, she wanted to chase kill them, then, she wanted to chase them, then she always barked at them, and had fun they ran away, now, she ignores them, and looks aways, pretends they don’t exist at first, you need to get them to calm down ! Most important thing, then, I had her in the down position, and she had to lie there calmly until I said, it is ok to get up, as I said, very high prey drive ….

Dobermans are really awesome, great with family, very good guard dogs, but, lots of energy, if you are not prepared to do a lot of biking (we went for fast 12 km rides, the human is too slow for a Doberman) or letting them run free, don’t get a Doberman, after all the energy has been worked off, they are a wonderful breed to have, and mine was calm in the house, she never made a mess ( they are kind of born house trained ) , the only time she was a little bit rude was when she didn’t get her regular exercise, when I was too slow, getting on the bike , she would sometimes nip me on my butt, it didn’t hurt, but it was a message ;“hurry up“ when I was pregnant and fell with a bike ( do get a bike helmet , cos it will be a very fast ride!) I started driving a car, and she ran beside me, but don’t overdo it, they will run until they drop dead, the first time I did this ( the previous owners had told me they went car driving while she was running) she had scuffed open her claws on all 4 feet She had to wear socks with medication for a week, so start SLOW !

Here she is, wearing socks, the dog I have right now wouldn’t even let me put socks on her feet, let alone keep them on

And here she is, a few weeks later, with her claws grown back again
She was very fast with her long legs, there is a permant speed trap near here, where you are only allowed to drive 30km/hr, I was thinking about getting a remembrance picture doing 50km/hr with her, but then I found out you even get in trouble with your driver’s license biking faster then the speed limit, since I am very attached to that, I never did it, now, I sometimes think the picture would have been worth the hassle
