Hi all! This is NOT a sad post, it is a happy one... a celebration of my loyal, loving, silly boy Rexicon (yes, the kid helped name him!) who went off to Dober-Dog Heaven recently. We lost him pretty early, at just under 8 years old- despite no known health issues. I was out walking him one night as usual, and he went off into the woods chasing who-knows-what... also as is usual. I was waiting by the garage for him to finish saving the planet and I heard a single high-pitch yelp - like he got stung by a bee. Didn't think much of it but started walking that direction and there he was in the middle of the driveway just laying there peacefully- but totally gone. Absolutely nothing of note wrong with him, so clearly it was something with the heart, like cardiac arrest. He was the worst darn puppy I have ever had, but the best grown dog out of 3 Doby's I have had. Wouldn't you know it, he also died on my daughter's 10th birthday... which if you knew him, was definitely his way of making sure we'd never forget him. He had a great dog life, full of the outdoors, exercise, family and friends. He loved to frolic in our fields and sit down by the pond watching our purple martins fly by. Whenever my daughter would take a walk around the property, he was right there with her- she was absolutely who he decided it was his job to protect, and he truly did. He was an incredible chicken-wrangler and also a surprisingly talented carpenter bee catcher! He loved his outdoors, but he also loved his indoors. When we were all in the house, he had to have his head in someone's lap, and his darn head was just so heavy- but full of love for his people. I swear he would push down with his head rather than just relax it there. He was also a terrible leaner. If you were out talking to someone in the driveway he'd just about lean you right over! Dog. What a good companion he was, and he will be missed. Finally, I can chuckle at all the toenail indentations in my hardwoods versus getting bent about them. Rest in peace Rexy.

Oh my goodness he sounded amazing! I am so sorry for his passing🙁 it seems like most dobies go out suddenly. He was so so pretty!!!

Ok I’ll restate my opinion. I believe letting your dogs play is beneficial and I am not opposed at all to letting your dog play with dogs in your household or dogs you know very well. As long as it wouldn’t escalate. And I would just want to have some kind of control. Like only doing it with permission or only doing it outside. Yall agree?

Yeah that makes perfect sense to me, especially with breeds like dobies

I hate it when people say their dog is friendly, and then almost pull their owners arm out of their socket cos they want to get at your dog, in a non friendly way, I am amazed at some owners, who can’t read their dogs, a few days ago, I saw a dog aggressively staring at my dog, then he scratched a lot, all while being on a leash, absolute no respect for his owner, and a walking disaster 😬

Yes it is so annoying. Most people don’t seem to have a clue who their dog actually is
