Does anyone else keep an EGG LOG?

I used to note the time and quantity collected, then I changed jobs and now I just keep a daily total. I write each day's total on my log, then add them up at the end of each month. It does give you a pretty good idea of how production can vary based on different factors like temperature and hours of sunlight.

My girls lay the majority of their eggs by 1:00 pm, but once in a great while on e of them will surprise me with a late day (4-4:30) egg.

Yes. I do. I started out with a journal, but then I started being on here in the evenings so much and I'm a computer geek by day anyway, that I created an excel spreadsheet with graphs of the monthly totals and rolling 30-day totals.

Gosh, now you've got my mind spinning with possibilities. So far I've just kept egg info. There are only three girls and they are pretty uniform in what they lay, but I could start logging care and abnormalities, etc...

Oh, yeah - I'm running a wicked Excel spreadsheet and graph that tracks a myriad of egg production details (like 25 + measurables). I just listed a handful of the main metrics in a previous post. Excel totally rocks for this kind of stuff.

I'm a mechanical engineer by day...what can I say?

I keep a number daily on my calendar and also what I feed them. Basic layer food is the same but for treats and extras, so I can see what works best for mine. Also keep track of what brands I use with buttermilk, yogurt, seeds, cooked versus raw etc.
All these posts have given me some great ideas to do more though, so thanks!

I keep daily egg count, by color. Only other record I keep is feed cost and egg income. I also note when adding or deleting chickens.

We have only received 5 eggs from our Sussex so far. I've been writing them on the calender with the approx time of lay.

Once we have more hens, I'll have to move to a notebook.

We also keep a calendar to mark daily egg count on. We also have a ledger to keep track of all expenses and the few egg sales that we do. It is very interesting to look back on, and my son keeps track for his FFA SAE project too!
