Does anyone have a Brahma?

What a beautiful brahma!

You might be waiting awhile yet. Her comb and face tell me she is still maturing.

My first LF brahma to lay was 19 weeks old - real early for a brahma.

My last two to lay (both dark brahmas) were 38 weeks old (9 1/2 months old). Those two are my most consistent layers now.

I have 3 Light Brahma girls that were this years babies...They have not started to lay yet either...I check the nest boxes all the time in anticipation of that first egg...It will be there when I least expect it!

Mine are just about 6 months old now....I love them!

I guess I was lucky. My Light brahma started laying at 20 weeks. But I have heard they are a slow maturing breed.

My Brahmas didn't start laying until 7 months!

I have two standard buff brahmas, both 22 weeks old, and they haven't started laying yet. I have a suspicion that, at this time of year, what with the waning light and the fact that molt is happening, they might not lay for several months yet. But we'll see! It sounds like they can be pretty variable, but tend to lay later than other breeds.
