i feel like this is the CSI of paintings going on here peeps~

I know the name doesn't look the same...and the signature isn't in the right place...but this painting seems to have the same style as mine. Including the highlights, swamp scene...

The name of the artist starts in an "R" if that counts? I doubt it's the same person though.

I've been trying to google every combination of letters that I can come up with from the signature, but I am not finding anything either.

I think taking up EnglishChick's offer to ask around and see what she can come up with. It is a gorgeous painting!

It may have been a small-time local painter (maybe their hobby). I have several painting in my home that are of similar style and signed. However, the painter is my mother-in-law. If I hadn't known that, I'd have been searching around and never came across any info. I'm not meaning this in a negative sort of way. I really hope you find out information! It is such a beautiful painting with even more beautiful story behind it! I am just stating that if you don't find out, it doesn't mean it was "mass produced" or anything...it might just not be a popular enough artist to have his name in "google".

LOL! I forgot...I went ahead and PMed English Chick earlier today.

She's looking up local places around here that are with her firm that I can go and ask information from. If that doesn't pan out, she's looking on her end as well.

Thanks for all the help everyone!

I think I'm FINALLY understanding the "bing" commercials...

OMG!!!

I was watching Rosanne last night (the TV show) and the painting behind the couch on the "main" wall next to the stairs had a painting that I'm CERTAIN was done by the same artist! Same shading, lighting, strokes...

It wasn't the same picture, but the same artist I'm certain of it!

I'm SERIOUS!!!

You can see the bottom of the painting in this photo:

and a "fuzzy" version of it in this photo!

I keep trying to find better photos...but nothing so far except a diorama someone made.

Yeah, as I said that style was big in the 70's & 80's, I bet quite a few people have grandparents with them still in the den.
