Does your chicken love you?

animals and humans both feel intense emotion the word love is a human concept, in its simplest form it means a willing emotional bond. im gonna screw up the science behind this as its not my field but.... emotions at its most base form is simply bio chemical reactions, human emotion is based on the reaction between these chemicals. environment and other social organisms changes productions of bio chemical feedback.
chickens may not have the complexity of conscious thought patterns we humans have. but they still feel all the same emotions the main difference is us humans can control our emotional feedback loops through our logic. for example a proven exercise to help with depression( you can find a study having to do wit this example with a little research im quoting from memory) if a sad person looks into the mirror and imagines what a happy person looks like and then attempts to make that happy face in the mirror, the body will start a loop and produce certain chemicals to match the social environment which you are creating. this works with a mad face at the mirror to induce anger our confidence face for confidence.
jordan b peterson does a good job explaining this with the use of bio studies done on the nervous system and hierarchy structure of lobsters.
to anyone that says animals can't feel emotions should really give that a read or listen as it does a great job in explaining how our emotions work on a bio chemical level.

My chickens are extremely comfortable with me and they have a lot of trust which is just crazy when you think about them being a prey animal. If they're in distress i'm the place to be. If they're hungry or just want to warm their feet well that's on me too. They know my voice and the sounds of their names so they've paid attention at least a little. So as far as they can sure, they love me. I'm probably never getting a single thing for mother's day but i'll just have to get over it. ;)

What? No Mother's Day breakfast egg? Even if it does start out in THEIR bed, not yours!

Last year I didn't get a single one on mother's day. The kids these days, they don't appreciate how their mother sacrifices for them...21 days slaving over an incubator but they don't care. They just want to do their scratch, to heck with old mom.:hit

Tell 'em that you brought them into this world, and you can take them out of it!

Iv'e been threatening them with a box of shake and bake for ages, they just give me the bird.:hmm
I hold a pan of feed above my head and lecture them. Make sure I have their full attention. They're entirely too disrespectful if I feed them, then lecture. They'll have their little spats right in front of me while I'm telling them not to do so!

Brats.
