Does your farm have a name?

The original name for my property was Cottingham farms. Since 1972 When the land was `bought`(thats up for a lot of debate) it has not been called that until I did the research and started calling it by its rightful name again

It was named Cottingham because the man who bought the land from the government back in the 1800`s was from Cottingham UK.

this was my house in about 1870

I chose the name "Funky Feathers Fancy Poultry Farm" in 2001. It just popped into my head, like a lot of bright ideas I have had.

I am Blackberry Downs Woolery..Back on the Oregon Coast blackberries are everywhere. I love the taste and smell of blackberries, hate wading through the plants! Ow! Anyway, my farm name is also inspired by the "Watership Downs" books, about the wild rabbits in the English countryside. SInce I raise wool rabbits, they make the woolery, so, it makes sense! No Blackberries here in Idaho, though. I don't want to change to Chokecherry downs..lol

We raise miniature horses and they are ALWAYS out getting under the fences.

So we started calling the place "runamuckfarms"

I have the .com to runamuckfarms and runamokfarms while the LLC is actually little shenanigans. The wife has her daughter on the website and it is comming on line in 2010 early.

If you type in runamuckfarms you will be relocated to runamokfarms.com

Commerce is NOT run through the websites and the LLC is private.

We will post pics of the minis for sale and breeding on the website. I do not sell chickens nor Guineas. They are my pets.

i'd love to eventually have a name for a farm, but being residential on 1/2 acre i don't think it could fly with my town or neighbors to do it and advertise for it. i don't think i am legal to have a rooster in my area but i have 4 and no one has complained about the crowing since i keep one in my insulated and sound proofed coop (and he is crate trained for night and less loud crowing in the am), 1 is purely a house pet-doesn't seem to crow till i go to feed him, and the other 2 are still too young and still in my house and will eventually move to the coop or new homes.

i've thought of 'Feather/Fluffy Foot and Fancy Free' Hobby Farm. i love the feather footed breeds and have determined that i am sticking with bantam faverolles and brahmas. i'm eventually going to get my pond put in the back yard and thinking of getting a breeding pair of Welsh Harlequin ducks. my neighbors on both sides have been fine with me keeping the chickens and have even been very curious about the different breeds i've been keeping this past summer so i am sure they are fine with a small breeding flock. one has owned both chickens and ducks before so i know they are fine with it.
