The same thing once happened while I was in Malaysia with my grandparents. The feral cat situation in Malaysia is just crazy. Well, anyway, the neighbour raised chickens to sell the eggs and meat. One day some feral animals got in and stole practically the whole flock.

And everyone just looked the other way too, supposedly cats are valued members of the community and culling some akin to sinning

How terrible! Hopefully she was able to do something with them rather than have to bury them all.
