Dog Breed Experience Poll/Database

I dont know what catagory to put this in..

But I have a Chihuahua that kills Quail every chance she gets..

She will go through great lengths to get to the brooder and/or cage to kill them.. This includes climbing up onto things we never thought she could get to... She doesnt just kill them, she shreds them.. Sorry so graphic..

Havent seen her around chickens yet. Going to my aunts farm in the late summer.. Ill find out then..

I have a pointer/ACD/border collie who killed a chicken when it got out of the run a few months ago. Last week I was gone all day, so when my DH got home that evening he let the dogs out to go potty without checking the backyard. After about 1/2 hour or 45 minutes he looked out the window and saw that the door to the run was wide open (I didn't leave it open, I don't know what happened) and ALL the chickens were out loose with the dogs, and the chicken killer was just lying down on the porch not doing anything. Lucky for me.

Austrailian Cattle dog: chicken ignorer
Border Collie: chicken chaser (hasn't got a hold of one yet but I'm sure she'll be on the killer list one day if we loose our eyes off her)
weiner dog: chicken killer

I have 2 scottish terriers two wirehaired pointing griffons and a min pin that would all be chicken killers if given the chance. My old english mastiff would probably be curious and maybe want to play but i dont think he would intentionally kill or hurt a chicken

I have a husky/lab that is in love with my chickens and guards them well. She doesn't do well when the other dogs are around the chickens because she attacks the dog, she's kind of over protective.

I have a female 3 year old Bichon Frise who couldn't care less about the chickens, she does though alert us to lost pets getting out( will sit and whine/light bark) and has herded the rooster into the house when we first got the rooster as he resides in the house. My huskeyxlab/shepard pup wants to play with them but is getting used to having the rooser out w/o him bothering him ( never left him unattended with them!) the pup is only 10 weeks though.

Our rough collie (classic collie) would try to baby them.

Our German shepherd (a real one, German working line, not the abomination that's bred here in the USA) would definately chase them and I think she would kill them.

One of our Belgian malinois would avoid them - maybe try to herd them.

The other Belgian would bark at them / harass them but I don't think he wouls deliberatly hurt them.

Our vlcak is questionable - even though she's a puppy she's got prey drive and is very "interested" in them.

With the findings aside - dogs are predators. I'm sure given the opprotunity and a growling stomach, any dog would kill a chicken.

West Highland White Terriers Chicken Killers! Mine killed about 5 of my chickens!
German Shepherd Chicken Friend and Guardian. My Shepherd saved the coop last night by chasing a very large predator off!

I have a Vizsla which is a bird dog/pointer. She can't be trusted alone but if I'm with her she will lay down in the run and just watch. I've even let them free range while I'm in the garden and she will just walk around them like they don't exist. She's also some what protective of them because the neighbor dog (cocker spaniel) came over to reak havoc and she attacked it. I laughed because she really thinks they exist simply for her pleasure.
