No, unfortunately. He had a heart attack about 2 months ago while I was away caring for my Mother. I miss him so much, he was an EMA (emotional support animal) for me and he naturally "alerted" to my seizure disorder.

Aw I’m so sorry! He sounds like an amazing dog.

My favorite breed has always been German Shepherds. But I do love mutts

Unlike most of you bleeding hearts (bless ya'll), I'm not a huge dog person. I love a nice, well mannered, trained animal of any breed, rescue or not, but I rarely see that these days. Most dogs I come across are treated like spoiled children, and have a tendency to act as such.

What I do love about this conversation is all the working dog talk. I find these animals to be so well adjusted and satisfied with life. Doing what they were bred to do. I have a tendency to dislike many of the working breeds as they are almost always in the wrong hands. I love having my own views on them challenged with fantastic working specimens. Very cool to see what they are capable of, and it just allows their best selves to shine.

Like several of you, I too have had a perfect Golden Retriever. No dog will ever come close to him, so I will continue avoiding Goldens for the rest of my life.

I think my perfect dream team of dogs are as follows: Purebred black and tan Doberman (male), Purebred liver and white Brittany dog (male), and a pug... because pugs are hideous monsters, and I have never met one that didn't have the best personality ever. I'd seriously take any pug. Who has a pug they want to toss my way?

There are lots of German shepards and beagles at our shelters. Sometimes coonhounds. I love German shepards and hopefully someday we will get a rescued one.

I keep aiming for a GSD and failing, they're my hubby's favorite dog so I'd really like him to have one at some point. We currently have a shepherd/Kelpie(?) mix - went to a rescue to see a female GSD and ended up coming home with him instead. The last time we were searching for a dog, I was looking for a Pyrs mix or a GSD, even went to a shelter specifically to see a GSD (that got adopted right in front of us), and we ended up with an Anatolian instead.

I have 3 Maltese and love that breed so much! The other breed I love and really want is a Whippet. They're so beautiful! Other breeds that I really like are Standard Poodles, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Lab, Chocolate Lab, and long haired chihuahua. I could go on and on....

This is my old, black Pug in a white fur suit. The one... The only... The Fanged Monkey.

I often consider him more of a gremlin. We were at the doggy dentist one day. The only other person in the lobby was a very sophisticated looking lady with the most elegant King Cavalier Spaniel I ever saw. This dog was like the super model of the dog world & it laid on the bench next to the woman all perfect & pristine & never moved or made a sound. I was sitting on the opposite bench with The Fanged Monkey on my lap. He had a back leg hanging off the side of my leg, tongue hanging 2" out the side of his face & an odor radiating out of him from the dental work that needed done. He was nervous & kind of excited so he was fidgety, & snorting & panting & was puffing out pounds of loose fur. The sophisticated woman was trying to be polite but you could tell she was a little disgusted. The extreme differences between our two benches was hitting me as extremely funny & I was trying so hard not to laugh. I sat there for what seemed like forever biting the insides of my cheeks while my stinky gremlin snorted & panted, fidgeting & puffing out clouds of black fur. Every time the receptionist looked at him she'd get a huge smile on her face & profess her love... Take THAT King Charles!
He doesn't smell anymore now, so that's a huge plus.

I agree about pugs. Here's Molly my Puggle (pug/beagle).she has the greatest personality ever. I've never met anyone who hasn't liked her, everyone always wants to play with her or pet her. I got her when she was 5 weeks old and she's now 10.
