Centra, do you have reliable Wi-Fi service?
I have a few of these WYZE cameras. They are relatively inexpensive and work very well for what they are.
It does have to be plugged in and it does have to be connected to Wi-Fi to work. But you do not have to pay for a monthly subscription for all the extra stuff.
It takes an SD card so you can go back and look and see what happened.

At least one of the dogs came over a little bit ago. I’ve not figured out camera yet. My dogs chased it back home where neighbor can be heard quietly calling dog to him. He likely saw my flash lite shining in direction his dog was in. Having neighbor so close and aware makes this all more ticklish.

Sigh… I’m thinking containment of dog as previously suggested and call the sheriff or whichever law enforcement agency has been handling this situation may not be a bad idea. Don’t need to worry about a time stamp that way. I suppose you could be accused of luring the dog over, though.

Neighbor could accuse him of luring the dog in order to capture and contain it, I think is what @bobbi-j was saying.
