dog killed 15 hens and one is left with dog 2 dog bites. I have baytril. but not sure what to use.

Update on my injured hen:
It's been about 3 weeks or so since my dog attack. And the hen has come to a slow almost nothing bit of progress. I have doing a sling most of each day. She has learned to leverage out of the contraption and I am afraid she will hurt herself!

I was thinking of your situation today and wondered what was going on.

Could you post some pictures of her. Now that it has been three weeks?
Thanks,
mg

Oh!! The water therapy is working when I was feeling well enough to do it. Sorry. But on another note....I put a welcome mat in her crate to see if she would use the mat as traction. At this point her toe nails are just getting stuck. But we will see.

She is on the move on the door mat!

I think she looks on the mend. You saved her with your rehabilitation efforts.

I am so glad you kept her, now you have a layer and a pet. There is a bond that comes from taking care of your hen and she makes it.

The idea of the door mat is great. You can squirt it down. Good idea. Don't you just get creative when something like this happens. Amazing.

Sorry you were ill. And happy to hear you are better. !

Keep posting, very interested to see the continued outcome.
Thanks.

I sure hope so. She is still having difficulty with her balance. But I am hoping that it is due to ateophy. And after a few days in the carpet she gains strength.

Mg15 how is Whispers? Do you have any new pictures of her? I am sorry I have been so caught up in my hen's dilemma I haven't even asked! I hope she is well and back to the flock. And hopefully you have gotten a bit of a reprieve from all of the nursing....it's exhausting!

mstkseavey Here is Whispers now out and about.
WHISPERS

After the hen gets trauma it does take awhile for the pain to go away and to feel normal again.

The vet said to put her down. I just could not do it. And look at her now. she lays five brown eggs a week. And that just started about a week ago. So it took quite two months for her to even lay an egg again.

I have leaned alot about chicken birds. And you are right, it can be exhausting, but they get better. !
After our dog killed the 15 chickens and found Whispers injured, and alive, I had to do something. Why add more pain on top of pain losing all my girls, I didn't want to lose Whispers too, if she could be saved.
I have shown Mercy to our dog and hopefully, I will be shown Mercy.

Thanks.
