dog killed 15 hens and one is left with dog 2 dog bites. I have baytril. but not sure what to use.

Do you think she will lay? I somehow thought it was only a remote possibility!
I am not an expert.
I would hope she will. If she does not have some internal misalignments from the injury.
Wouldn't it be great if she did. !
she is such a good girl.

Yes, I think she'd lay. I honestly was amazed that my hen laid after her attack!

I don't know if you have any already, vetwrap works awesome to cover injuries from your hen pecking at it. My hen didn't peck at her sore, but she did try to clean feathers that were not there.

I hope your hen recovers quickly. Your hen being antsy sounds like she's recovering. Antsy is a good sign.

That is awesome to think. She is pretty lame. She gets around in the hutch. Eats okay. Not great like when she was inside. But I do think she is happier outdoors. Especially when the sister hens come to visit through the window!

There is a window cut in the plastic right behind the treat cage that is hanging there and a roost in the other run to let them perch up to visit. I always put treats in the box so they come up to eat with her! :)

How ingenious. A good life she has. I still hope she will lay as long as its healthy for her!
I can get a better look at her on the bigger computer. I am away from home right now.
So nice to see her inherent new home. She will be happier next to her girl friends.

i have had this many times and all i do is clean it and leave it alone they heal more quickly that us depending if its young or old

She looks so good except for those legs. But she is managing.

My chicken is doing much better. I figured I'd update her status.

I soak her in Epsom salt water about once a week. She hates it, but I need to make sure debris doesn't get trapped in her chest cavity when the skin does finally close all the way. There's no open 'wound' so to say... it's healed, but it's healed to leave an opening into her chest. The opening is shrinking slowly, but it will take time.

The breast tissue underneath has dried out, forming somewhat of a skin. I doubt it'll ever fully heal up, and if it does, she will have internal scar tissue. She's regrowing a lot of the feathers and she's finally keeping up with the rest of the flock again. She's filthy though, she's a white rock and decided rolling around in the soil was just a GRAND idea (and all that mess sticks to the Neosporin on her feathers).

Isn't it great when a girl recovers. such an accomplishment. If you can post some pictures.
