There is a window cut in the plastic right behind the treat cage that is hanging there and a roost in the other run to let them perch up to visit. I always put treats in the box so they come up to eat with her!![]()
My chicken is doing much better. I figured I'd update her status.
I soak her in Epsom salt water about once a week. She hates it, but I need to make sure debris doesn't get trapped in her chest cavity when the skin does finally close all the way. There's no open 'wound' so to say... it's healed, but it's healed to leave an opening into her chest. The opening is shrinking slowly, but it will take time.
The breast tissue underneath has dried out, forming somewhat of a skin. I doubt it'll ever fully heal up, and if it does, she will have internal scar tissue. She's regrowing a lot of the feathers and she's finally keeping up with the rest of the flock again. She's filthy though, she's a white rock and decided rolling around in the soil was just a GRAND idea (and all that mess sticks to the Neosporin on her feathers).
