That does make sense. Twiggy was from Romania probably from the feral dog population and she can be a pain, not a great pet for the average pet owner

Yup. We mostly have LGD's and LGD mixes roaming around, and the AR groups have made it their mission to get every single one in a pet home that can't even handle a chihuahua . They can't understand that not every single dog is going to enjoy that life

We did, two years ago...and she is not our dream cat by any means! She scratches, bites, and then meows because we won't pick her up. The only person who can handle her is my sister. My sister can actually walk her on a harness with leash, carry her in a backpack, and give her a bath! but the rest of us would be mauled. She's two years old now, and we love her but...

We used to have a cat like that, not quite that placid with her favourite person

Pretty sure Twiggy has some LGD in her. all most 40kg of territorial, reactive and stubborn dog that resource guards (not badly) sounds like the perfect thing to ship to the inexperienced pet dog owners

we didn’t get Twiggy through one of those rescues we got her from somebody who found her when on holiday and brought her back with them. They decided to rehome her because they where having a child and couldn’t manage with her as well, I think Twiggy would probably have been put down if they hadn’t rehomed her

she was 8 months old with no basic training, no concept of her size and still biting like a little puppy and she really likes play fighting. She probably would have playfully bitten the child then been labelled as aggressive

I decided after I lost most of my chickens flock last year to foxes, sometime in the future (realistically a few years) when I move to a property where I can keep more poultry I will get a LGD or two (cause I read they're better in pairs?). It doesn't really have anything to do with me wanting the dogs as much as I never want to lose so many of my chickens again like that (I lost several of my favourite pets ). The most common LGD around me are Maremmas so it'll probably be some of those.

I am jealous its all ways been a dream of my to find either a stray kitten or dog preferably a kitten

My cat was a stray kitten, I hand raised her from a four day old runt (so many of my family is shocked she actually survived ). I am not a cat person and generally am not a fan of cats, but stray kittens just do something to me .

I did a bit of thinking about the shows and last night I took a peek at what show are on this year. Turns out there's nowhere near as many shows as there normally is! I did see that in August there will be five shows over three days, and honestly if I am showing this year I think that's the one I should aim to do.
It's a few months away so I could work with Winnie (and maybe one or two of the other dogs?), and if I plan to attend all three days I could not show the first two shows (first day) and just spend the time socializing with the dog/s then still do three shows.
Anyway I havent decided anything yet but that's my thought process atm

Im sorry you lost so many chicken's. . Mareemmas are so cute! And im glas that the stray kitten is still alive, its in good hands! Im more of a dog person than a cat, but if i see a balinese or calico i fall in love! Do you do dog shows?

She's crazy, handraised single kittens are handfuls Black cats and Maine coons are some of the few cats that interest me, but I will only ever have one cat at a time.

Do you do dog shows?

For a few months each year I try to attend some local shows. I've never done any major shows because some people who do dog shows are highly competitive and sometimes really rude (and while shows are supposed to be completely fair my mum honestly thinks they're a bit rigged, it's all about who you know). By doing local show there's not as many of the city people cause some don't consider the travel worth it.
I would like to one day do my breed's specialty show, but I know 90% of the breeders are very rude and don't know if I want to meet them in person
